The State Stenography Institute is a department of the National Institution of Technical and Vocational Education, coordinating teaching of secondary school subjects such as administrative techniques, business correspondence, and stenography and providing the service of the state examination board for these subjects.
The Institute also prepares and organises retraining courses, provides counselling in this field, and organises workshops for secondary school teachers. Moreover, the Institute organises regional and national graphic discipline contests for secondary school students, develops teaching programmes, publications and other school aids, and publishes the magazine Rozhledy available for download.
The Institute cooperates with schools, industry organisations, employer associations, and administrative bodies in modernising secondary technical education. The Institute is involved in the international cooperation under the INTERSTENO federation (International Federation for Information Processing).
